Save the internet
If you have heard about "net neutrality" but do not really understand it, go here and read some about why it is important.
Back to doing notes from shows.
This link will explain how a virus ends up on an iPod:

And for the mailwasher program that I spoke about.
Mailwasher
It is a great program, and I recommend buying it, as the pay version gives you more features. Well worth it.
But if you must have the free version:

Internet Explorer was released yesterday. A better browser than IE6, but not as good as Firefox.

The user interface will be different, and it will take time to get used to it. It is slower than FireFox. So far though, it does not have the security bugs in it that IE6 has, but it may be only a matter of time. As far as us web designers go, it is more web standards compliant, but still has a way to go. Many web pages that looked OK in IE6 and in firefox, may be broken in IE7, because of how the site had to be coded to be standards compliant, and work in IE6. They can be fixed.
The digital pen I was gushing over can be found here:
Logitech Io2 Digital Writing System
It is one of the better pieces of hardware that I have purchased recently. It works. They also have the turntable that you can hook up to your computer so that you can digitize your vinyl albums. A good way to preserve the past.

See you next month. If you have any questions that you would like answered on the air next month, send me an email

I'll be going over some basic computer "clean-ups" but only for windows XP. Basic maintenance, and how to do it. so get those digital pens ready and take notes!

Do not open or save unexpected Office files, even from someone you know. Always ask them if they sent anything. There are a number of "zero-day" attacks going on, and MS is not fast in releasing patches, just puts out advisories until they do patch.

get rid of some of the bloat that is installed when you have XP. Just make sure you know what you are uninstalling, and have a go at it. Heck, Vista won't be out until let's see... Jan/Feb/March. Then someone will have to figure out this stuff all over again.
